Main program dialog
Web Update Builder main dialog consists of two groups of data: Customer data and Web pages for Web Update Client data.
Type in customer's name (e.g. John Doe Inc.). It will appear in the header of Web Update Client. This field is limited to max. 23 characters according to free space available in Web Update Client's header.
Select customer's logo image (or your own logo) to be displayed in Web Update Client by clicking Custom Logo. If you do not use this option our logo will be used instead. Logo image has to be 177x64 pixels in bmp format. If you use an image of a different size it will be automatically resized in Web Update Client to fit required size.
Please note that Custom Logo option is available only in licensed (registered) version of Web Update Builder.
Type in FTP server address in a standard "FTP host" + "Remote dir" format (e.g. ftp.customerdomain.com for FTP host and /web/htdocs for Remote dir), FTP username and password for access and customer's HTTP web site address (e.g. www.customerdomain.com). Enable "Use Active FTP Mode" option if the FTP server requires so for successful transfers. List of web pages selected for Web Update Client will be uploaded to this FTP server address when you click Upload. The list is automatically saved in the text file named wuclist.wub and you can not rename it.
Please note that you have full control over which FTP access parameters your customer will be able to change in Web Update Client. If you stay with defaults your customer will not be able to change any of FTP access parameters. There are "Editable by user" checkboxes for FTP username and password. If enabled changes will be allowed. For FTP server address you have two levels of protection. By default FTP server address is not editable. Second option allows only changes to the path after FTP server's name and third options allow complete change to the FTP server address.
If customer's computer accesses the Internet through a proxy, type in customer's proxy server parameters.
Web Pages for Web Update Client data
Click on Browse button to select local folder on your computer containing customer's web site.
Type in wildcarded file mask(s) to browse only files that meet specified mask. If you have to work with more than one file mask, use semicolon as delimiter (i.e. *.htm*;*.php).
Enable this option if you want to include all subfolders under specified customer's web site local folder in a scanning process.
Scan & Verify
Scans selected folder for files (web pages) matching specified file mask. All files containing <WUB> tags will be automatically selected in the list of web pages that will automatically show up when scanning process is completed. You can navigate through the list easily using keyboard arrows and change selection by clicking on check boxes.
Also checks WUB tags syntax in all scanned files and notifies if errors are found.
Click on this button to get the list of web pages selected for Web Update Client. Of course, if you load some old project file there is no need to go through scanning process again as list of selected web pages is also remembered.
Click on this button to upload list of web pages selected for Web Update Client to customer's FTP server. If you access the Internet through a proxy, type in proxy server parameters. Enable "Use Active FTP Mode" option if the FTP server requires so for successful transfers. Click Send to start the upload. The list is automatically saved as the text file named wuclist.wub and you can not rename it.
All customer data you typed in can be saved into project file for later use. Click on New Project button to clear all fields and start working on a new project. Click on Open Project button to open existing project file. Click on Save Project button to get Save As dialog and either save changes to current project file or save current project data to a new project file.
Click on Make WUC button to make Web Update Client.
